Distinguish scheduled, worked and billable hours
A service estimate starts with required post hours and explicit assumptions for rates, relief, supervision and other costs. Reconcile worked hours against agreed billing rules before preparing an invoice record. Label USD, rate periods and units rather than mixing hourly and monthly figures. Staffing handles guard assignments; Contracts handles the commercial assumptions. Check contract wording with appropriately qualified advisers.
Are margin and markup interchangeable?
No. Margin relates profit to selling price; markup relates it to cost. Identify the basis used by the actual workbook and test a simple known example. A calculated price is not a guaranteed margin or an agreed client charge.
